NewS-The APPLICATION of Geotextiles
The main functions of geotextiles are isolation and filtration. In addition, the combination of geotextile and geomembrane can also form a composite puncture-resistant sandwich to reinforce and protect the substrate. The functions of geotextiles are described in more detail below.

Geotextiles are a new type of geosynthetic product, a permeable geosynthetic material made from synthetic fibres by needling or weaving. Geotextiles Machinery Geotextile production line
What role can geotextiles play in applications?
1. As the geotechnical sector is formed from filament or staple fibres, the fibres are very dense and can segregate materials of different densities. For example, in landfill projects and soil engineering, geotextiles can segregate soil from sand, soil from concrete and other different materials. Geotextiles can replace the function of stone and gravel interlayers. At the same time, geotextiles are also very light and small compared to other materials.
2. Filtration or reverse filtration. In landfill or construction work, water can flow through and be collected thanks to the geotextile’s good permeability and water permeability.
Drainage systems can be constructed in landfill projects by means of blind trenches and edge drains, facilitating drainage and overflow prevention throughout the base. This feature is important for rainwater scouring and the drainage of excess liquid in landscape works or road reinforcement.
3. Protection and reinforcement. The geotechnical system has a certain tensile strength and deformation capacity to withstand certain pressures and to diffuse and decompose external shocks. It, therefore, protects the soil from external forces. Especially in environmental protection projects such as landfill projects, the composite structure formed by geotextiles and geomembranes can enhance the tensile strength of the soil and the stability of the structure, enabling the whole system to withstand greater pressure and external impacts.
Geotextile Application
- 1. It can be used as a drainage material for reservoirs and mines.
- 2. to form a drainage layer on the top or bottom of high-rise buildings (usually in combination with other geotechnical products)
- 3. Used to prevent leakage and scouring of dams and road embankments (both geotextiles and geotextile bags are used).
- 4. Used for the foundation laying of road projects such as highways and railways to prevent asphalt pavements from freezing and cracking.
- 5. Used in environmental protection projects, such as sanitary landfill projects. Landfill projects, etc. As a leading environmental protection material, it is a product that is very capable of solving the problem of landfill impermeability and seepage prevention.
